Leadership Transitions: Alison Post steps down and Joan Walker is new GMS Co-Director

Joan Walker

Joan Walker, Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and GMS core faculty member, will begin a 3-year term as GMS Co-Director. She joins continuing Co-Director Matt Kondolf, as Co-Director Alison Post steps down at the end of her 3-year term.  Professor Walker’s research focus is behavioral modeling, with an expertise in discrete choice analysis and travel behavior. She works to improve the models that are used for transportation planning, policy, and operations.  She joined the Berkeley faculty in 2008.

Thank you to Professor Post for a tremendous three years as GMS Co-Director! Alison has been instrumental in building so many aspects of our community, including the Designated Emphasis, research initiatives, faculty hiring, and increased visibility with the website, seminar and newsletters. Fortunately, she continues on the GMS Executive Committee and as a Core GMS Faculty member.
