The Center for Global Metropolitan Studies and the Social Science Matrix are pleased to invite you to participate in our campus-wide, interdisciplinary research initiative on “Critical Infrastructure Under Stress.” The objective of the year-long series of events is to build connections across disciplines and to define and enable an impactful research agenda that leverages the rich research community at UC Berkeley.
Presenters come from a huge range of Berkeley’s departments and centers: the Anthropology, City and Regional Planning, Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Energy and Resources Group, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, Political Science, and Sociology departments; the Center for Cities and Schools; the Institute for International Studies; and the Smart Cities Research Center.
Kicking off the year’s events will be a workshop and reception on Friday afternoon, October 8. We will have lightning talks and breakouts on the following broad themes:
– Infrastructure and Public Purpose
– Pandemic Revelations and Accelerations
– Deterioration, Disaster, and Resilience
Attendance is limited to UC Berkeley affiliates. Attendees will have to show their green campus access badge for admittance.
For the full panel line-up, see the events page at the Social Sciences Matrix.
